Writers Vic announces winners of Grace Marion Wilson Emerging Writers Competition

Writers Victoria has announced the 2018 winners of the Grace Marion Wilson Emerging Writers Competition.

The winner in the fiction category was Amanda Hildebrandt for her story ‘Market Day’. Margaret Hickey was runner up for her story ’Binky’ and high commendations were awarded to Damian Perry for ‘Death Watch’, Liselle Bhatia for ‘Food for Prayer’ and Phillippa Finkemeyer for ‘Made of Ivory’.

The prize in the nonfiction category was awarded to Karen McKnight for her essay ‘The Playboy Club of North Perth’. ‘Myanmar and My Father’ by Claire Harris was awarded runner up, while Katia Ariel’s ‘Black Pearl’, Marg Hooper’s ‘Hessian’ and Fiona White’s ‘Fierce and Feisty Love’ received high commendations.

Each winner is awarded $1000 and will be published in Writers Victoria’s magazine The Victorian Writer. Runners-up are also published in the magazine and receive $250.
