PRH seeks contributions from young writers in children’s anthology

Penguin Random House is seeking submissions from young writers for a new humorous short story collection, Total Quack Up! (October 2018), edited by children’s authors Sally Rippin and Adrian Beck, and illustrated by James Foley.

Rippin and Beck will select the most creative story by a young writer aged 12 or younger for inclusion in the book. Other contributors include Rippin, Beck, Deborah Abela, Tristan Bancks, Jacqueline Harvey, Paul Jennings, Alex Miles, Oliver Phommavanh, R A Spratt and Matt Stanton.

All royalties from sales of the book will be donated to Dymocks Children’s Charities, which provides literacy support to underprivileged children.

Beck said, ‘Sally and I will be reading every single entry and most of all we want kids to make us laugh out loud! The stories can be about anything—they can be embarrassing, possibly spooky or even a little gross! And personally, I love a twist, so I’m hoping for some surprise endings.’

Children interested in the opportunity are encouraged to submit a funny story (minimum 500 words) to the kidswb.com.au portal by 29 July 2018.
