Audible appoints Naparstek as director of original content

Audible Australia has appointed Ben Naparstek as director of original content.

In the new role, Naparstek will oversee the development of original audio shows, series and dramatisations.

The announcement comes as Audible seeks to boost its Australian offering, with the audio producer holding its own retreat for the development of original audio content in Sydney last month. The company began releasing original Australian content in May 2017.

Naparstek was previously head of SBS Online for two years, and has also served as editor-in-chief of both Good Weekend and The Monthly. Prior to joining Audible, Naparstek was leading teams in social media, video, media-buying, user experience and design, and web development at PR agency Edelman.

Naparstek said the opportunity was ‘too exciting to pass up’. ‘I look forward to engaging leading Australian creators and performers from film, television, stage, radio and print industries to develop bold and ambitious original programming,’ said Naparstek.
