Hachette adds LibraryThing reviews to US website

Tens of thousands of book and audiobook reviews written by members of social book cataloging app LibraryThing have been added to Hachette’s US website.

Hachette Book Group (HBG), a division of publisher Hachette Livre, has partnered with Bowker to integrate LibraryThing reader reviews into the Hachette website. LibraryThing has an online community of over two million readers and its reviews are vetted for quality and enhanced with catalogue data from the Syndetics Unbound service.

‘Consumer reviews are a driving force behind a customer’s purchasing decision, often more influential than even critical acclaim’, said HBG executive director Alyson Forbes, adding that it would ‘deepen’ consumers’ engagement with HBG books.

Bowker is an affiliate of ProQuest and acts as the retail agent for content and technology from ProQuest, such as LibraryThing and Syndetics Unbound. Books+Publishing was formerly owned by Thorpe-Bowker, an affiliate of ProQuest.
