‘KYD’ to publish annual print collection of short fiction

Kill Your Darlings magazine (KYD) will publish an annual print collection of short fiction, with the inaugural collection to be released in October 2019.

New Australian Fiction will include 15 stories from established and emerging Australian writers. KYD publishing director and series editor Rebecca Starford will commission and select stories from a general call-out.

KYD has always published strong, challenging stories in the magazine,’ says Starford. ‘We know there is an audience out there hungry for more Australian short fiction. In the spirit of our publishing program, we hope to showcase a range of stories from writers with distinct voices, style and experience from all corners of Australia.’

KYD will continue to publish short fiction online, and plans to expand its digital fiction publishing by commissioning ‘genre showcases’ throughout 2019. The series will include a focus on speculative fiction in April and crime fiction in September.

Submissions for the inaugural print collection will be accepted from 5 November 2018 until 31 January 2019.
