APA announces publisher hosts for 2018 Publishing Industry Internship program

The Australian Publishers Association (APA) will run its Publishing Industry Internship Program (PIIP) again in 2019, following last year’s program.

The program offers higher education graduates the opportunity to take up a paid, part-time internship at a publisher, including trade, educational and independent publishers, and literary magazines and journals. Interns can be employed in any area of publishing, with the internships running for up to six months.

The PIIP assessment committee selected the following publishers to host interns:

  • Affirm Press
  • Pearson Australia
  • Oxford University Press
  • Wombat Books
  • Yellow Brick Books
  • Exisle Publishing.

Potential interns are currently being interviewed, with internships to commence in November this year. Successful interns will be announced at the end of October.

The APA’s Gillian Haines said, ‘Programs have a broad mix this year. There’s a couple of programs that have editorial components, one is a dedicated publicity role, and others are project-based including developing a conference.’
