Faber Writing Academy Scholarships announced

Allen & Unwin has announced the recipients of the 2019 Faber Writing Academy Scholarships.

The recipients are:

  • Chandu Bickford (True Stories Scholarship) has travelled extensively in India and Tibet, and lived in Africa for 10 years. She hopes to explore her personal experience of the silencing of women in her work.
  • Erin Middleton (Writing a Novel Stage 1 Scholarship) is an emerging writer and actress from southwest Sydney.
  • Kirstie Bedford (Writing a Novel Stage 1 Scholarship) is a Melbourne-based magazine editor and travel writer. She’s writing a contemporary novel that looks at the impact tragedy has on our view of the world.

The scholarships allow students to study for free in either the four-month course True Stories (Sydney), valued at $3400, or the three-month course Writing a Novel (Melbourne or Sydney), valued at $3250.

The Faber Writing Academy is a partnership between Allen & Unwin and the Faber Academy in the UK, and is the only Australian creative writing school inside a publishing house.
