Two Shelly Unwin board books sold to US

Alex Adsett at Alex Adsett Literary Agency has sold North American rights to Shelly Unwin’s board books You’re One! and You’re Two! (A&U, illus by Katherine Battersby) to Penguin Random House imprint Doubleday.

Adsett said the sale was a direct result of the Australia Council’s New York Publishers Program last year. ‘One of the Doubleday publishers recognised You’re Two! from when A&U’s Angela Namoi had pitched it to her the year before, and fell in love with the print copy,’ said Adsett. ‘It was a real team “one, two” combo that got it over the line (pun intended).’

You’re One! and You’re Two! are the first in a series of five rhyming picture books that celebrate early childhood. You’re One! was shortlisted for the 2018 Speech Pathology Awards.

Unwin said: ‘I am so thrilled and excited to have sold US rights for You’re One! and You’re Two!. Being published in the US opens up a whole new world of opportunities and another wonderful audience to connect with.’

The books are scheduled for release in the US in September 2019.
