PRH to publish new McInerney novel, debut children’s book

Penguin Random House has acquired ANZ rights (including audio) to a new novel and debut children’s book by Monica McInerney.

The two-book deal was struck by Fiona Inglis at Curtis Brown.

PRH publisher Ali Watts said they are ‘beyond delighted’ to be publishing the standalone novel The Godmothers. ‘A new Monica McInerney novel is always a major publishing event, and this heartfelt story about strong women and fractured families is Monica at her best,’ said Watts. ‘It will be sure to delight her generations of adoring fans.’

PRH Young Readers publishing director Laura Harris said she ‘always hoped that Monica would one day write a book for children’. ‘Not only did she deliver a book with heart and humour and full of love, it exceeded all my expectations—which were very high anyway—and I can’t wait for the world to see this side of Monica.’

PRH will publish the The Godmothers in October 2020. The as yet unnamed children’s book will be published in 2021.
