Melbourne City of Lit announces Booksellers in Residence program

The Melbourne City of Literature has announced a new initiative for Victorian booksellers to spend a week in an overseas bookshop in another City of Literature.

Under the Booksellers in Residence program, four Victorian booksellers will spend a week in an overseas bookshop where they have the chance ‘to observe, to participate and to exchange ideas’.

The four bookshops to host a Australian resident bookseller are Lighthouse Bookshop in Edinburgh, The Book Hive in Norwich, The Bookcase in Nottingham and Third Place Books in Seattle.

Recipients will receive a return flight and A$2000 towards travel expenses, with the trips to take place anytime between June 2019 and December 2020.

Applicants will be assessed by an independent selection committee of representatives from sister Cities of Literature, and successful applicants will be asked to submit a short report detailing their visit.

Applications close on Monday, 29 April. For more information see the Melbourne City of Literature website.
