Australians nominated for 2019 Hugo Awards

Several Australian writers and artists are among the finalists for this year’s Hugo Awards for science-fiction.

Australian author Foz Meadows has been named a finalist in the Best Fan Writer category for the third consecutive year, while Alisa Krasnostein, Alexandra Pierce and Tansy Rayner Roberts (Galactic Suburbia podcast) and Jonathan Strahan (The Coode Street podcast) are also up for Best Fancast for the third year in a row.

Australia-based Filipina artist Likhain (Mia Sereno) is nominated for Best Fan Art.

Finalists were announced in 18 categories, including best novel, best novella and best short story. For the full list of nominees, click here.

The Hugo Awards are presented annually by the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) and this year’s awards will be voted on by 2019 Worldcon convention members and attendees. Winners will be announced on 15 August at the 77th World Science Fiction Convention in Dublin, Ireland.
