NT Writers’ Festival 2019 program announced

The program for the 2019 NT Writers’ Festival, to be held from 16-19 May, has been announced.

The annual festival alternates between Darwin and Alice Springs, and will this year be held in Alice Springs / Mparntwe with the theme lyapirtneme or returning.

Around 45 guests will appear at this year’s festival, including writers Morris Gleitzman, Fiona Wright, Future D Fidel, Roanna Gonsalves, Alice Bishop, Charmaine Papertalk Green, John Kinsella, Charles Massy, Rod Moss, Patti Miller, Kirli Saunders, Merlinda Bobis and Paul Collis. Also in attendance are UWA publishing director Terri-ann White, and chair of the First Nations Writers Network Yvette Henry Holt, alongside many other guests.

Featured events at this year’s festival include a guided tour of Arrernte country, a ‘storied walk’ along the Todd River and a session of storytelling, song and spoken word poetry by the campfire. The program also includes a range of workshops, a playwrights’ night, and a range of book launches, panel events and book talks.
