Sinclair, Castrique win Nature Writing Prize 2019
Jenny Sinclair and Sue Castrique have been named joint winners of the $10,000 Nature Writing Prize 2019, awarded biennially by the Nature Conservancy.
Sinclair’s essay An Orchard for my Father and Castrique’s On the Margins of the Good Swamp were chosen by judges Delia Falconer and Tom Griffiths, and are now published online at the Griffith Review.
The Nature Conservancy Australia country director Rich Gilmore said the award promotes and celebrates the art of nature writing in Australia. ‘We are thrilled it’s grown to the point where we are attracting such gifted writers, who are all so clearly passionate about nature and its relationship with the art and literary worlds,’ said Gilmore.
