The program has been announced for this year’s Emerging Writers’ Festival, which runs in Melbourne from 19-29 June.

More than 300 guests will appear at over 70 events. The opening night event at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art will feature Paola Balla, Eugenia Flynn and Vicki Couzens, with music by SojuGang. Running under the theme Stay Gold, the closing night event at the Brunswick Mechanics Institute will feature Manisha Anjali, Eugen Bacon, Shel Calopa, S J Finch and Emily Munro-Harrison.

Other highlights include Ways Of Listening, an experimental evening of speech and sound at State Library Victoria (SLV), with poetry, discussion and performance accompanied by live music; 2222, an immersive audio installation at SLV that invites audiences to listen to speculative futures of the library created by six authors; and EWF X, a series of performance events presented in partnership with Melbourne collectives I See You, Yo Soy, The Waiting Room and Liminal.

This year’s festival is the third by EWF artistic director Izzy Roberts-Orr. As previously reported by Books+Publishing, this year’s ambassadors are Katherine Brabon, Toni Jordan, Charlotte Nash, Maria Tumarkin and Alison Whittaker, who will headline the National Writers’ Conference from 22-23 June.
