Overland adds youth categories to Fair Australia Prize
Literary journal Overland will add two new categories for youth entries to its Fair Australia Prize this year.
Sponsored by Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, the two new categories are for the best overall youth entry in two age brackets: 19–30 and 18 and under. The prizes are open to poetry, fiction, essays or graphic/cartoon/art and are each worth $1000.
Worth a total of $20,000, the Fair Australia Prize is funded by the Migrant Workers Centre, the National Union of Workers (NUW), the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) in Victoria, and the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA). In 2019 the theme of the prize is ‘Strike!’ and entrants are asked to consider ‘what would make the country a more fair and just place for all’.
