Tim Flannery children’s book sells to US, Canada

Catherine Drayton at InkWell Management has sold US and Canadian rights to writer and environmentalist Tim Flannery’s forthcoming children’s book Explore Your World: Weird, wild, amazing! (illus by Sam Caldwell).

Rights were sold on behalf of Hardie Grant Egmont (HGE) to Simon Boughton at Norton Young Readers in a contested auction ahead of the book’s Australian publication.

Flannery’s first book for children, Explore Your World is a 256-page illustrated nonfiction title that introduces readers to ‘the most bizarre and amazing creatures living on our planet—from the zombie jellyfish to the star-nosed mole’. His nonfiction titles for adults includes Here on Earth, The Weather Makers and Atmosphere of Hope (all Text).

HGE associate publisher Emma Schwarcz said: ‘Tim has been on some incredible adventures around the world—he’s discovered new animals, dug up dinosaur bones, floated down crocodile-infested rivers, wrestled pythons—and in this, his first book for children, he shares all the fun details.’

Explore Your World: Weird, wild, amazing! will be released in Australia in November 2019 and in the US and Canada in mid-2020.
