ASA to track publishing, appearances fees for authors

The Australian Society of Authors (ASA) has launched rates trackers to record how much authors and illustrators are being paid for publishing agreements and event appearances.

The ASA is asking authors and illustrators to input the payment details of new publishing deals and festival, school, event or panel appearances into the tracker. These details will inform the ASA’s published recommended rates of pay.

The ASA said, ‘In the current turbulent environment, however, it has become ever harder to develop a rates schedule that fairly reflects the needs of authors.’
