Writers, literary orgs among latest OzCo funding recipients
Twenty-seven writers and literary organisations are among the recipients of the latest Australia Council grants round, which awarded $6.2 million to 201 projects.
Grants in the literature category were worth a total of $1,029,048, or slightly under 17% of the total amount awarded, and about level with the $1,069,857 awarded in the same category in September 2018.
An Australia Council Fellowship, worth $80,000, was awarded to author Michelle de Kretser. The fellowships are awarded to support ‘outstanding, established artists’ creative activity and professional development for a period of up to two years’.
There were 18 recipients of grants for arts projects for individuals and groups in the literature category:

- Linda Neil ($15,000)
- Mark Brandi ($45,072)
- Michael Brennan ($39,097)
- Michael Mohammed Ahmad $(49,920)
- Miro Bilbrough ($17,697)
- Samuel Vincent ($39,000)
- Sarah Holland-Batt ($50,000)
- Simon West ($20,160).
Another five received arts projects organisations grants:
- Australian Publishers Association ($81,180)
- Express Media ($70,000)
- Melbourne University Publishing ($58,538)
- Writers SA ($82,000)
- Writing NSW ($47,370).
Four projects were awarded career development grants for individuals and groups in the literature category:
- Jane Novak ($7620)
- Maria Tumarkin ($9212)
- Steven Herrick ($6395)
- Suneeta Peres da Costa ($7859).
