Jaipur Literature Festival returns to Adelaide

The Adelaide Festival Centre’s OzAsia Festival will host the second Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) Adelaide on November 1–3.

More than 60 guests will appear at 40 free events as part of the festival, which is the JLF’s only Australian satellite event. Visiting guests include Indian parliamentarian and author Shashi Tharoor, Taiwanese novelist Wu Ming-Yi, Chinese novelist Sheng Keyi, Bollywood actress and activist Manisha Koirala, Indian journalist Tony Joseph and British journalist James Crabtree.

Local guests include Melanie Cheng, Michelle de Kretser, Peter Varghese, Darryl Jones, Robert Dessaix and Tony Birch.

Festival organisers said JLF Adelaide will ‘celebrate Asia’s stories, heritage and rich culture while also exploring Australia’s place in the region—including shared interests, understanding and relationships with global powers India and China’.

Former Adelaide Writers Week director Laura Kroetsch is a producer for this year’s JLF Adelaide.
