Cobby Eckermann to headline 2019 Odyssey Literary Festival

Students from RMIT University’s Professional Writing and Editing program will host the fourth annual Odyssey Literary Festival at Melbourne’s Capitol Theatre on 15 October.

The event is headlined by poet Ali Cobby Eckermann, who will give a keynote speech addressing the festival’s theme of ‘raze/rekindle’, exploring ideas of ‘endings and beginnings, change and resilience, destruction and renewal’.

The festival also includes sessions on climate change and literature; YA writers and their responsibilities; crafting ‘the end’ of a piece of writing; and sensitivity reading and ethics, diversity and controversy within contemporary literature.

Panellists include Laura Elizabeth Woollett, Sian Prior, Rajith Savanadasa, Ilka Tampke, Alice Bishop, Alice Robinson, Tyson Yunkaporta, Nina Kenwood, Alison Evans, Astrid Scholte, Danielle Binks, Bridget Caldwell, Jinghua Qian, Marisa Wikramanayake and Jo Pugh.
