APA announces new industry conference BookUp

The Australian Publishers Association (APA) has announced a new conference for the Australian book industry called BookUp.

Aimed at ‘all book publishing people’, the one-day event will explore the future of the sector with the theme ‘a positive future for books and publishing’. Topics covered during the conference will include innovation, the future of reading, audience engagement, the evolution of content and areas for change and how to tackle them.

The APA says the conference will offer ‘world-leading thinkers in publishing, insights from high-level professionals in other fields, and opportunity for a charged conversation to break into the next decade of producing books’.

The conference will be held in Sydney on Tuesday, 23 June 2020, the day after the Australian Booksellers Association’s conference, which runs from 21–22 June. Both conferences will be held at the Sofitel Wentworth in Sydney.

First guests will be announced in December, with the full program to be announced in February or March next year. According to the APA, early-bird tickets will be available soon, until November.
