CHASS Australia Book Prize 2019 shortlist announced

The Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) has announced the shortlist for the 2019 Australia Book Prize.

The prize, worth $3500, is part of the CHASS Australia Prizes program, which aims to draw international attention to Australia’s achievements in the humanities, arts and social sciences.

The shortlisted titles are:

  • The Bible in Australia: A cultural history (Meredith Lake, NewSouth)
  • Eggshell Skull (Bri Lee, A&U)
  • Elizabeth Macarthur: A Life at the edge of the world (Michelle Scott Tucker, Text).

The shortlisted titles were chosen from a longlist announced in September. The winner will be announced at the 2019 CHASS Australia Prizes Dinner on 30 October in Melbourne.
