Thomson receives inaugural Varuna/New England Writers’ Centre Fellowship

Armidale writer Anna Thomson is the inaugural recipient of the Varuna/New England Writers’ Centre (NEWC) Fellowship.

Thomson’s winning submission included an extract from her paranormal fantasy manuscript ‘Bloodwood’. The fellowship includes full board and accommodation at Varuna and funds toward travel.

The two other shortlisted finalists, Fiona Murphy and Greg Woodland, each receive a free year-long NEWC membership, along with attendance at two workshops from the centre’s 2020 program.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the fellowship was open to writers living in the federal electorate of New England, and was established with a $3714 grant from the Copyright Agency.
