Big Sky sells six children’s titles to US imprint Windmill Books

Big Sky Publishing has sold North American and US territories rights to six children’s titles to Windmill Books, an imprint of independent educational publishing house Rosen Publishing.

The deal, which was negotiated as a result of the 2019 Frankfurt Book Fair, includes the picture book Paint with Magic (Sandi Wooton, illus by Pat Kan) and five junior fiction titles in the ‘Yucky Disgusting’ series (Susan Berran) for reluctant readers.

Big Sky international rights director Denny Neave said, ‘We anticipate international rights sales across our adult category but to see the year-on-year growth in our children’s and family titles is extremely positive—it shows that our Australian authors and illustrators and their stories are tapping into areas of interest that exist internationally.’

Earlier this year, Big Sky announced it had sold rights to 17 books to Windmill, as a result of the 2018 Frankfurt Book Fair.

Neave added: ‘We are not only seeing excellent interest in our titles post-Frankfurt but are seeing this materialise into actual international rights [sales] across territories.’
