Pantera acquires Emanuel’s ‘The Covered Wife’

Pantera Press has acquired ANZ rights to Lisa Emanuel’s debut novel The Covered Wife, via Catherine Drayton at InkWell Management.

Emanuel’s novel follows an ambitious young lawyer who falls under the thrall of an oppressive and potentially dangerous religious commune, and of one of its charismatic leaders. Pantera describes it as ‘a gripping examination of power, loneliness and how far a person will go to find belonging’.

The Covered Wife is spellbinding—a magnificent literary debut that reads like a thriller, it speaks directly to the isolating nature of modern life, and our yearning for connection.’

The novel was previously shortlisted for the 2019 Kill Your Darlings Unpublished Manuscript Award.

Pantera will publish The Covered Wife in 2021.
