The Next Chapter mentors announced

The recipients of the 2019 Next Chapter grants for developing writers, each worth $15,000, have been matched with their mentors, who will work with them over 12 months to help connect them with publishers and readers.

The mentors are:

  • Ali Cobby Eckermann will mentor memoirist, performer and musician Racheal Oak Butler
  • Chloe Hooper will mentor writer and community lawyer Sam Elkin
  • Arnold Zable will mentor memoirist Arthur Bolkas
  • Rebecca Giggs will mentor essayist Dan Hogan
  • Alice Pung will mentor memoirist Faina Iligoga
  • Melissa Lucashenko will mentor young adult fiction writer Jasmin McGaughey
  • Romaine Moreton will mentor poet Lorna Munro
  • Sally Morgan will mentor comedic fantasy writer Jasper Wyld
  • Ellen van Neerven and Tusiata Avia will mentor poet and critic Meleika Gesa-Fatafehi
  • Duncan Campbell will provide translation advice and assistance to fiction writer Grace Lee.
