No physical exhibitors at 2020 Frankfurt Book Fair

This year’s Frankfurt Book Fair won’t feature physical exhibitors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, reports the Bookseller.

Organisers said it was no longer feasible to hold the planned ‘special edition’ of the festival in October, which was to mix physical and virtual exhibitors, due to the pandemic and related travel restrictions.

The festival’s digital program, which runs from 12–18 October, will still go ahead, as will certain physical events at decentralised locations around Frankfurt.

Frankfurter Buchmesse director Juergen Boos said the festival’s focus would turn to its digital offerings. ‘We have expanded our numerous existing services in recent months into a detailed offer of digital services and online events,’ said Boos. ‘That means international publishing professionals will be able to use known and new digital venues to drive their business forward, even in times of corona.’
