PA to aggregate diversity statistics

In the UK, the Publishers Association (PA) will aggregate publisher statistics on the diversity make-up of their books, reports the Bookseller.

After a number of big publishers confirmed they were now auditing their own lists, the PA has consulted with an independent researcher to provide the organisation with an overall picture of diversity in the industry. The PA said the study aims to ‘identify any gaps in data and help to inform best practice to encourage industry consistency in how it is collected’.

UK publishers confirmed to be auditing their lists include Bonnier Books, HarperCollins, Hachette and Penguin Random House.
