WestWords wins Western Sydney business award

Western Sydney not for profit literary organisation WestWords has won the Excellence in Arts and Culture category in the 2020 Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence.

The awards acknowledge the outstanding business leaders and organisations who are actively contributing to the Western Sydney region’s economy.

WestWords delivers a program of residencies, fellowships, workshops, presentations and publications. The organisation has several forthcoming anthologies, with books featuring work from the WestWords LGBTQIA+ writers’ group, the winners and highly commended writers from the Blacktown Mayoral Creative Writing Prize, and work created through its African Australian Literature Development Program among its forthcoming publications.

WestWords executive director Michael Campbell said in a statement, ‘This award is an important testament to the writers and communities we work with and serve, the support extended by all our partners and staff—and importantly a recognition of the ever growing literature of one the most exciting and diverse regions in Australia.’
