Frankfurt to take place as hybrid event in October

This year’s Frankfurt Book Fair will take place as a hybrid digital–physical event from 20–24 October, under the motto of ‘re:connect’, reports the Bookseller.

The fair, which will charge ‘significantly’ lower exhibition fees, will feature physical stands at the usual site, supported by a digital program and with a special focus on the international rights and licensing business.

The fair will introduce health and safety measures including smaller exhibition stands and wider walkways. All events on the main stage in the Festhalle will be streamed live.

Canada is this year’s guest of honour under the theme ‘Singular Plurality’. ‘With over 300 published and soon-to-be released titles in 2021 by 248 publishers, the Canadian literary scene has an extraordinarily busy year ahead,’ organisers said. ‘Canada’s delegation, comprised of celebrated authors, illustrators and artists, is eager to be part of the official hybrid presence in Frankfurt in October.’

Last year’s entirely digital fair attracted over 200,000 users. Delegates have until 31 May 2021 to register. For more information, click here.
