Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival program announced

The program for the Dunedin Writers and Readers Festival, which runs from 6–9 May, has been announced.

The program features almost 60 local authors and artists speaking at more than 30 events, including workshops, panel discussions and a schools program. Guests include fantasy author Elizabeth Knox, Becky Manawatu, the debut author of the multi-award winning novel Auē, Māori author and storyteller Witi Ihimaera, and bestselling author Nalini Singh.

The festival opens with a gala showcase at Toitū Otago Settlers Museum, featuring Manawatu, Singh, David Eggleton, Jillian Sullivan, Derek Morrison and an as yet unnamed member of the Te Kai a te Rangatira collective, who will ‘picture the future and share their interpretation of what might come next’.
