ABIA winners, push for EBA at Better Read Than Dead

In a big week for awards, the winners of this year’s Australian Book Industry Awards were announced, as were the winners of the Vogel, the Nature Writing Prize, IPEd’s Janet Mackenzie Medal and the Boundless Indigenous Writer’s Mentorship.

In other news, staff at Sydney’s Better Read Than Dead are pushing for an enterprise bargaining agreement and Mascara Literary Review has announced a new residency for First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse writers.

Overseas, the shortlists for the Women’s Prize for Fiction and the Wolfson History Prize have been announced. Meanwhile, Lagardère has finalised a ‘peace agreement’ between shareholders, and UK publisher consumer sales were up 7% in 2020.
