MWF 2021 schools program announced

The schools program for the 2021 Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF) has been announced.

The primary school program, which will run 6 and 7 September, features Australian Children’s Laureate Ursula Dubosarsky; author and illustrator Peter Carnavas; author, performer and podcaster R A Spratt; and novelist, poet, playwright and 2020 NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year Kirli Saunders. The program will be hosted by Ingrid Laguna.

The secondary school program, to run 8 and 9 September, will be hosted by Jess McGuire and features sci-fi and fantasy novelist Amie Kaufman, Yuin YA writer Gary Lonesborough, Welcome to Consent authors Melissa Kang and Yumi Stynes, and writer and activist Carly Findlay, editor of the Growing Up Disabled in Australia anthology.

After going online in 2020, the MWF schools event will this year present a full day of programming for primary and secondary students, with each day-long programming running twice during the week.

The full MWF program is yet to be announced.
