Beijing Book Fair to run as hybrid event

This year’s Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), which runs from 25–29 August, will be held as a hybrid fair, with physical presence limited to Chinese and China-based publishers.

International publishers can book a stand manned by an assistant on the ground, who will present titles to interested Chinese publishers and forward their contacts after the fair.

BIBF has also extended its online platform, launched as part of last year’s digital-only fair, where publishers can participate in the fair’s program. The platform will include ceremonies, forums and rights meetings.

BIBF director Liying Lin said the fair ‘is an exciting opportunity to reimagine what global book fairs look like’. ‘At the physical event we hope to welcome publishers from across China and locally-based representatives from around the world. Our digital platform will enable us to welcome thousands of publishers from around the globe.’

More information about the BIBF program will be announced in June.
