Black Inc. partners with ASRC on ‘Seeking Asylum: Our stories’

Black Inc. will partner with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) to publish Seeking Asylum: Our stories in commemoration of the ASRC’s 20th year.

The book will capture the experiences of those seeking asylum, accompanied by portrait photographs, giving contributors a platform to share their stories in their own voices. Seeking Asylum will include a foreword by writer and activist Liliana Maria and an afterword by ASRC founder and CEO Kon Karapanagiotidis.

‘Refugees and people seeking asylum—the most courageous, resilient and resourceful people who love their families so deeply that they have crossed the earth to find sanctuary, have a right to be heard,’ said Karapanagiotidis. ‘These powerful stories are rich in diversity and centered in the voices of people whose experience all Australians can listen and learn from.’

Black Inc. is offering its publishing services for free, with 100% of the proceeds from the book to be reinvested by the ASRC to fund projects and opportunities that highlight the voices and stories of asylum seekers and refugees. Black Inc. publishing director Caitlin Yates said the company has long supported the work of ASRC and is ‘delighted to provide all publishing services, including editorial, design, sales, marketing and publicity, completely gratis’.

Seeking Asylum will be published in December 2021.
