Griffith Review announces emerging voices competition longlist

Griffith Review has announced the longlist for its inaugural emerging voices writing competition.

The longlisted writers are:

  • Sonja Dechian
  • Nicholas Duddy
  • Declan Fry
  • Alison Gibbs
  • Lucas Grainger-Brown
  • Vijay Khurana
  • Martin Kovan
  • Kali Napier
  • Sally Olds
  • Catherine Padmore
  • Raeden Richardson
  • Andrew Roff.

Open to early-career writers, the Long and Short of It competition was announced earlier this year and called for submissions of fiction and nonfiction that reflects ‘new ideas, fresh voices and bold perspectives’.

Three winning entries will be selected by a judging panel consisting of Griffith Review’s editorial staff as well as publishers Rachel Bin Salleh from Magabala Books, Aviva Tuffield from UQP and Robert Watkins from Ultimo Press. Winners will share a prize pool of $15,000, courtesy of the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund, and will be published in a forthcoming issue of Griffith Review in November 2021.

The winners will be announced 12 July.
