Writers SA, Liminal announce new partnership

Writers SA has partnered with literary platform Liminal magazine to launch two new initiatives that will provide writing and mentorship opportunities for Asian-Australian writers and editors based in South Australia.

The first initiative, Liminal x Writers SA Writing Commissions, will be a South Australian series, responding to the theme of ‘Haunt’, to be published online in 2022 at OzAsia Festival. Asian-Australian writers living in South Australia are eligible to pitch fiction and nonfiction works and writers will be paid $600 each for their published piece.

The Liminal x Writers SA Editorial Mentorship will give two emerging editors hands-on editing experience with mentors Cher Tan (nonfiction) and Elizabeth Flux (fiction) to edit the Liminal x Writers SA series. Each emerging editor will receive a stipend of $1600, learn how to edit for digital publications and receive feedback and guidance.

‘We are delighted to announce this state-first publication and the invaluable mentorships with such fine editors,’ said Writers SA director Jessica Alice. ‘It’s an exciting intervention to diversify the local media and publishing landscape and elevate Asian-Australian excellence.’
