AWW 2022 program, new SA fellowship, WAYRBA, NBCC shortlists

In this week’s news, Adelaide Writers’ Week has announced the full program for this year’s festival, with Bruce Pascoe, Grace Tame, Liane Moriarty and Richard Flanagan among the 165 guests appearing across the six-day festival period, while prominent art and design fair Semi Permanent will feature an art and design book fair for the first time as part of this year’s festival program.

Australian bookselling chain QBD Books has launched a dedicated manga online shop, Matilda Bookshop has partnered with Writers SA and Ultimo Press for the Deep Creek Residency Fellowship, a new annual residency fellowship for a South Australian writer, and the shortlists for the 2022 West Australian Young Readers’ Book Awards (WAYRBA) have been announced.

Overseas, independent publishers in the UK are rallying for support as printing prices increase by up to 40% and members of the Independent Alliance publishers group reported record annual sales growth in 2021. Meanwhile in the US, the shortlists for the 2022 National Book Critics Circle were announced.
