Ena Noël Award 2022 shortlist announced

IBBY Australia has announced the shortlist for the biennial Ena Noël Award for a young emerging writer or illustrator.

The shortlisted writers and illustrators are:

  • Freda Chiu, A Trip to the Hospital (A&U)
  • Kay Kerr, Please Don’t Hug Me (Text)
  • Gary Lonesborough, The Boy from the Mish (A&U)
  • Jessica Miller, The Republic of Birds (Text)
  • Kamsani Bin Salleh, What do you call a baby…? (Magabala)
  • Kirli Saunders, Bindi (illus by Dub Leffler, Magabala).

IBBY Australia will announce the winner on International Children’s Book Day, Saturday, 2 April.

The Ena Noël Award was established in 1994 by IBBY Australia founding president Ena Noël and is open to Australian creators under the age of 35 who have had a book published in the two years prior to the award closing date.
