Creative NZ announces Wilson as recipient of new PRH NZ internship

Creative New Zealand has announced Faith Wilson as the recipient of a new internship offered in partnership with Penguin Random House New Zealand (PRH NZ).

Wilson is a Samoan and Pākehā artist, writer and poet and founder of Saufo`i Press, a publication focusing on Moana Pacific poetry. Through the internship, which includes working with PRH NZ for six months, Wilson will learn about the publishing industry and develop her skills to set up Saufo `i Press, which aims to be a platform for Pasifika authors.

‘I’ve been part of the Aotearoa literary scene for many years and Saufo `i Press is my way of giving back to my community, of creating opportunities for future generations,’ said Wilson. ‘I want to acknowledge the amazing Pacific writers who have forged the path for me and my generation to continue. Saufo ‘i Press publishes for those who have gone before us, who will come after us, and for us.’

The internship, part of the Pacific Arts Legacy Project funded by Creative New Zealand, is a ‘new strategic opportunity for a Pacific artist and creator to develop skills in professional book publishing’.
