Senior publicist, Brisbane

UQP is looking for a senior publicist to join their marketing and publicity team for three days a week in a nine month maternity leave position from September 2022 to June 2023.

The senior publicist will promote UQP books and authors, develop excellent industry and media relationships, and build UQP’s market presence and sales outcomes.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop and deliver tailored marketing and publicity campaigns (including author liaison to arrange media schedules, travel, and accommodation bookings) for UQP’s adult and children’s titles to maximise profile and audience.
• Write persuasive media and publicity content (e.g. media releases, newsletters, pitches, native digital content) and pitch to journalists and editors to secure timely publicity.
• Work closely with UQP’s sales manager to organise impactful events for UQP authors.
• Develop reporting mechanisms to evaluate publicity campaigns against overall brand strategy and demonstrate value to authors, our distribution partners, UQP colleagues and stakeholders.
• Contribute to the implementation of UQP’s digital strategy including website, social media, and other communications channels.
• Provide UQP authors with media briefing, training and guidance around social media engagement, events, and media appearances.
• Attend trade conferences, launch events and writers’ festivals, as required.
• Support manager to deliver marketing, sales and publicity strategic priorities.
