As the publishers of the Medical Journal of Australia (MJA) we’re growing our stellar team to expand the reach of our weekly digital medical newsletter, InSight+.
InSight+ provides thoughtful commentary, news and opinion in the fast-moving space of health and medicine. Delivered to a large and engaged audience of doctors, it breaks big stories, unpacks critical research and facilitates important national and global conversations.
The role: Reporting to the head of publishing operations, you will use your excellent writing and diverse communications skills to support the:
- Tactical expansion of our popular social channels
- Efficient coordination of freelancer inputs
- Weekly provision and subediting of high-quality copy
- Timely back-end production of each issue
- Accurate collection of audience engagement analytics to inform strategic planning.
You will work closely with key stakeholders, primarily the InSight+ editor and the group editor-in-chief regarding content and engagement tactics.
The role is based in our Sydney-CBD office (near Town Hall station with easy train access)—onsite attendance is required for regular meetings but flexible working arrangements (work in office/work from home) will be considered following an initial period of training.
What it takes: You will have a passion for improving Australia’s health and as a minimum have:
- Performed a similar role, as a journalist or communications specialist
- Experience in developing and managing content publishing in a digital environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders and customers
- Experience in using analytics to monitor and measure SEO and conversion success
- An ability to work independently, as well as within a team.
Remuneration for this position will be determined after an assessment of relevant skills and experience has been completed.
