The five emerging and established WA writers each receive a stipend of $5000 and a residency for up to 15 days at one of the five appointed National Trust heritage places.

The five successful writers for 2022–23 are:

  • Portland Jones, residency at Peninsula Farm at Wu-rut Woorat, Maylands
  • Rachel Robertson, residency at East Perth Cemeteries at Martellup, East Perth
  • Scott-Patrick Mitchell, residency at Woodbridge at Mandoon, Woodbridge
  • Matthew Chrulew, residency at East Perth Cemeteries at Martellup, East Perth, and No 1 Pump Station at Minderinjy, Mundaring
  • Josephine Wilson, residency at Curtin Family Home on Whadjuk Country, Cottesloe.

In their third year, the residencies will take place between October 2022 and April 2023, and offer opportunities for research, connections to publishers and creative and professional development.

This year’s assessment panel comprised David Whish-Wilson, Lucy Dougan, Cate Sutherland and William Yeoman.
