Tasmanian Literary Awards 2022 winners announced

The recipients of the 2022 Tasmanian Literary Awards were announced in December.

The winners in each category, chosen from shortlists announced in November, are:

Young readers and children ($25,000)

  • Ella and the Ocean (Lian Tanner & Jonathan Bentley, A&U)

Poetry ($25,000)

  • Intimate, low-voiced, delicate things (Esther Ottoway, Puncher & Wattmann)

Nonfiction ($25,000)

  • Flight Lines (Andrew Darby, A&U)

Fiction ($25,000)

  • The Labyrinth (Amanda Lohrey, Text)

Tasmanian Aboriginal Writer’s Fellowship ($10,000)

  • Jennifer Evans

University of Tasmania Prize (for the best new unpublished literary work by a Tasmanian writer) ($10,000)

  • Cameron Hindrum for ‘The Sand’

Tasmanian Young Writer’s Fellowship ($5000)

  • Stephanie Jack.

Formerly known as the Premiers’ Literary Prizes, the Tasmanian Literary Awards ‘recognise and promote excellence in Tasmania’s literary sector’ and in 2022 were open to books written by Tasmanian residents published between 1 April 2019 and 30 April 2022.
