PRH US re-organises divisions, personnel

In the US, Penguin Random House has undergone a company-wide reorganisation, reports Publishers Weekly.

As well as a number of personnel changes among executives, the Random House adult publishing division will be split into two groups: Random House Publishing Group (RHPG) and Crown Publishing Group (CPG). The move is intended to revive competition among its imprints and ‘provide more touchpoints for agents to meet PRH editors’.

RHPG will comprise Random House, the Dial Press, Hogarth, the Modern Library, One World, Ballantine Bantam Dell/Delacorte, Random House Worlds, Harmony/Rodale, Convergent, and WaterBrook & Multnomah. CPG will be made up of the imprints Crown, Currency, Clarkson Potter, and Ten Speed Press.

In announcing the reorganisation, global CEO Malaviya said ‘books and the people who make them are at the heart of what we do’. ‘Our editors’ ability to aggressively pursue the works they are most passionate about, and the autonomy and independence of our divisions and imprints, is what drives our business and ensures our success,’ Malaviya said.

Outgoing PRH US CEO Madeline McIntosh will not be replaced, with division heads to report directly to Malaviya.
