Faber reports record revenue, profit

In the UK, Faber recorded its best ever revenue and operating profit results in the year ending 31 March 2022, reports the Bookseller.

The publisher’s turnover came in ‘well ahead of expectation’ at £27.9 million (A$51.5m), up from a then-record £23.4 million (A$43.1m) the previous year. Operating profit totalled £3.1 million (A$5.7m), up from £2.9 million (A$5.3m) in 2021.

Faber’s bestselling titles included Sally Rooney’s Beautiful World, Where Are You, Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun, Jo Browning Wroe’s A Terrible Kindness, Claire Keegan’s Small Things Like These and Rachel Cusk’s Second Place. Its bestselling children’s books included Emma Carroll’s Secrets of a Sun King, Kacen Callender’s Felix Ever After and Marissa Meyer’s Gilded.

‘This is an excellent set of results and reflects the quality of the list we published during the year, and the talent of the team at Faber,’ said Faber managing director Mary Cannam. The economic context continues to be challenging, so these figures are particularly outstanding.’
