artsACT announces funding recipients
Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government arts agency artsACT has announced funding for several literature-related projects among its list of recent Arts Activities grant recipients.
Successful applicants include:
- Tania McCartney, for development of a new children’s book, ‘Flora: Australia’s most curious plants’ ($24,000)
- Penelope Layland, for publication of an illustrated anthology of Australian bird poems, edited by Layland and Lesley Lebkowicz ($11,059)
- Us Mob Writing Group, to publish ‘Kuracca’, a poetry and short story anthology ($14,056)
- Merlinda Bobis, for travel and field research in the Philippines to develop a new novel ($3872)
- Ayesha Inoon, to support travel and participation costs for a residency at Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre, Western Australia ($1979).
artsACT’s Arts Activities funding provides support for Canberra artists, groups and organisations to undertake arts activities including creating new work, professional or skills development, mentoring, residencies, and community arts and cultural development and engagement.
Arts Organisation Investment includes:
- Marion, for presenting professional development programs for Canberra writers at all levels and promoting their work ($185,000).
Marion, formerly the ACT Writers Centre, administers the ACT Notable Book Awards.
The Arts Organisation Investment Program supports the arts sector in Canberra to create, develop and promote the arts, for the benefit of artists and their work, and for the ACT community to have strong access to and engagement in the arts.
