A&U acquires Rodda junior fiction
Allen & Unwin (A&U) has acquired ANZ rights to Landovel, a three-part junior fantasy adventure story from Emily Rodda.
Publisher Eva Mills described the work as ‘compulsive and engaging’, and ‘brilliantly plotted with multiple twists’. A&U stated that the planned publication of the three parts in a single package is ‘unprecedented’.
Rodda is the author of the children’s book series Deltora Quest and Rowan of Rin, among many others. Under this pen name, she has now written over 100 books for children, as well as several adult mystery novels under the name Jennifer Rowe.
Discussing Landovel, Rodda said: ‘The story fell naturally into three parts, but its pace is such that I felt kids should have the chance of reading it all at once, from beginning to end.’ ‘Landovel is my most complex, far-reaching fantasy adventure since Deltora Quest,’ Rodda said.
A&U plans to publish the three-part series as a single package in October 2024.
