NT Writers Festival announces early line-up

The NT Writers Festival has announced an early line-up of guests for its 2024 festival, which will run from 27 to 30 June on Larrakia land at the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT in Darwin (Garramilla).

Among the festival guests will be local authors Julia Baird, Julie Janson, Dan Box, Debra Dank, Tyson Yunkaporta, Charlotte Wood, Benjamin Law, and Shankari Chandran.

This year’s festival theme is ‘Reverberations’. In its announcement of the theme, referencing a line in Stan Grant’s book The Queen Is Dead (Fourth Estate), the NT Writers Centre said: ‘Now, more than ever, it is crucial to consider the impacts of our actions on the world, to reflect upon their ongoing consequences. This requires us to see the world and ourselves relationally. It encourages us to look beyond ourselves to the vast and interconnected networks—social, cultural, environmental, economic—in which we are embedded. Being attuned to reverberations allows us to hear the way the echoes of the past live on in the present and to reflect upon the ramifications of our decisions.’

The festival will release its full line-up next week at its program launch event, to be held on 9 May.
