Affirm to distribute Gemini Books

Affirm Press will distribute titles from new UK-based publishing house Gemini Books in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand from July.

Gemini Books was founded by Marcus Leaver, co-founder of Welbeck Publishing Group, in late 2023, after Welbeck sold to Hachette UK in 2022. Gemini will publish a children’s list of picture books, activity stations and nonfiction, and a general list of illustrated biographies and nonfiction titles. It will also absorb select backlist titles from the newly acquired independent publishing houses Pimpernel Press, Ad Lib Publishers, Mardle Books and Palazzo Editions.

‘We have been blown away by the enthusiasm Affirm have shown as we build towards the launch of Gemini into the Australia and New Zealand markets,’ said Gemini Books Group executive sales director Adrian Greenwood. ‘The breadth and depth of Affirm’s relationships across all channels will allow us to reach readers across the countries. We are excited to be working with such a dynamic team.’

‘I’m confident Gemini’s list will include bestsellers for indie and chain stores in the coming years,’ said Affirm Press agency manager Grace Breen. ‘Their executive team’s histories are a good indication of the kind of beautiful and clever publishing that lies ahead.’

Retailers should return all Pimpernel Press, Ad Lib, Mardle and Palazzo titles, previously distributed by John Reed Books and Peribo, by 30 June 2024. New orders can be made to ADS via Affirm Press account managers from 1 July 2024.
